Window Nets & Components
A window net is bought rating first, shape second, and this page is sorted that way. Every net below carries its rating exactly as its own listing states it - SFI 27.1, SFI 37.1, Non-SFI, or not stated at all - because the difference decides whether the net belongs in your car. The page pulls together 24 in-stock products from Allstar Performance, RJS, Crow Safety, Stroud Safety, Schroth Racing and Simpson Safety, from $8.99 to $139.95: nineteen nets and five mounting and installation kits, because a net without its hardware is not an installed net. Every size, shape, webbing and rating quoted below comes from that product’s own listing. Every order over $200 ships free.
OUR WINDOW NET PICKS
| Product | Spec (from the product listing) | Price | Why it is here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Window Net Border Style 18 x 24 SFI Black | SFI 27.1, 1 in webbing, 18 x 24 in rectangle, border style, black, Allstar Performance (per listing) | $26.99 | The core pick: the standard 18 x 24 in rectangle with the SFI 27.1 rating named in its own listing, in the border construction most door-window openings on this page are built around. |
| Black Ribbon Window Net 18x24 | SFI 27.1, 1 in webbing, 18 x 24 in rectangle, ribbon style, black, RJS (per listing) | $24.46 | The value SFI pick: the same 18 x 24 in rectangle and the same SFI 27.1 rating in its listing, in ribbon construction, for less than the border-style nets. |
| Allstar Performance Window Net Ribbon Style 18 x 24 Black Non-SFI - ALL10284 | Non-SFI - stated in its own listing - 1 in webbing, 18 x 24 in rectangle, ribbon style, black, Allstar Performance | $23.99 | The honest floor of the net range: the listing itself says Non-SFI, so it sits here labelled that way - for cars whose rules do not call for a rated net, and for nobody else. |
| Window Net Kit Latch Type Round Bar | Window net installation kit, round bar, latch style, hardware included, stainless steel, Allstar Performance (per listing) | $46.99 | The mounting pick: a net is only half the job, and this latch-style round-bar installation kit - hardware included, per its listing - is the hardware most of the nets on this page hang from. |
| Window Net 16in x 27in NASCAR | SFI 27.1, 1 in webbing, 16 x 27 in trapezoid, NASCAR stock car net, black, Simpson Safety (per listing) | $139.95 | The top of this page: the long 16 x 27 in trapezoid Simpson builds for stock car window openings, SFI 27.1 per its listing, priced at the ceiling because of its size and shape. |
STEP ONE: THE RATING, READ FROM THE LISTING
Thirteen of the nineteen nets here state SFI 27.1 in their own listings - the Allstar border, loop, angled, drag, funny car and mesh nets, the RJS ribbon nets, the Crow and Stroud nets, the Schroth net (which also states FIA Approved) and both Simpson stock car nets. Two nets state SFI 37.1: the Allstar triangle net and the Crow sprint car net, both triangle-shaped with quick release buckles, both listed for sprint cars. Three nets state Non-SFI in their own listings - the two Allstar ribbon nets and the Allstar mesh net - and one, the Allstar low profile 10 x 18 net, states no rating at all, which is not the same as carrying one. Which spec your class requires is a rulebook question, and this page will not guess it: read your sanctioning body’s current rules, then match the rating printed on the listing. Questions before you order? Call 213-549-4279 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm PT) and we will read the listing with you.
STEP TWO: SHAPE AND SIZE FOLLOW THE OPENING
The standard shape here is the 18 x 24 in rectangle - it appears in ribbon, border, loop and mesh constructions across the SFI and Non-SFI ranges. Around it sit the squares (18 x 18 and the RJS 24 x 24), the trapezoids - Allstar’s angled and drag nets at 18 x 29 x 22 and 18 x 24 x 24, the Stroud angled net, and Simpson’s long 16 x 27 in stock car net - cut for openings that narrow toward the top, the triangles (the two SFI 37.1 sprint nets), and the low profile 10 x 18 in rectangle for a smaller opening. Measure the window opening on your cage before you pick: the listings give the net’s own dimensions, and a net that does not cover the opening it was bought for is a return, not a safety device. Every net on this page is a universal-fit part per its listing - none of them is made for one named car.
STEP THREE: RIBBON, BORDER, LOOP OR MESH
Four constructions appear in the listings. Ribbon style nets are built from 1 in webbing straps - every rated and unrated webbing net here lists 1 in webbing. Border style nets carry that webbing inside a sewn border frame, in rectangle, angled, drag and funny car shapes. Loop style is represented by one net, the Allstar 18 x 24 SFI 27.1, whose loops are its mounting edge. Mesh nets swap the webbing grid for a mesh panel: the Allstar pair at 18 x 22 in comes in both an SFI 27.1 version and a Non-SFI version at a $2 difference, and the listings state the construction and the rating separately for each - read both lines, because the cheaper mesh net is the unrated one.
STEP FOUR: THE NET IS HALF THE JOB - MOUNTING
Five of the 24 products here are the hardware the nets hang from. The floor of the whole page, at $8.99, is Allstar’s weld-on steel mounting tab kit, made for the ALL10217 and ALL10218 installation kits named in its title. The spring loaded round bar kit and the two latch type kits - flat bar in steel, round bar in stainless steel - are window net installation kits with hardware included, per their listings. The install kit for 1.75 in tubes mounts with aluminum clamps on 1-3/4 in cage tubing, spring loaded, per its listing - match the clamp size to your cage tubing, because a 1.50 in version also exists in the wider range and the two do not interchange. The wider range also carries clamp-on brackets, JOES and Stroud mount kits and RJS installation kits that did not make this curated 24; they are one click away in the parent collection below.
AN HONEST NOTE ON WHAT IS NOT HERE
This page is a curated 24, not the whole shelf. The wider Window Nets and Components range also carries RJS GN nets and a Non-SFI sprint cage net (a roll cage net, listed as a different product type from a window net), more RJS ribbon colors at a higher price band, OMP’s FIA Approved nets at $169.00 and $499.00, and 1-stock funny car nets from Pyrotect and Chassis Engineering - left off a page that leads with depth and rating clarity, not dropped from the store. And one limit applies to every net here: no listing on this page publishes an expiration or recertification date, so this page makes no claim about how long any net stays legal - that interval lives in your rulebook, not in a product listing.
QUESTIONS BUYERS ASK US
Does my class require an SFI-rated net? That is decided by your sanctioning body’s rulebook, not by this page. What we can do is keep the ratings honest: every net here is labelled with the rating its own listing states - SFI 27.1, SFI 37.1, Non-SFI, or none stated - so once your rulebook gives you the spec, the matching nets are the ones carrying it in print.
What is the difference between SFI 27.1 and SFI 37.1 on this page? In the listings themselves, the 27.1 nets are the door-window nets - rectangles, squares and trapezoids for stock cars, drag cars and road cars - while the two 37.1 nets are triangle-shaped sprint car nets with quick release buckles. The listings do not publish the test standards behind either number, so which one your rules require is a rulebook check, not a listing check.
How do I size a window net? Measure the window opening in your cage, height and width, then match it against the dimensions in the net’s own listing - 18 x 24 in is the common rectangle here, with squares, trapezoids for angled openings, triangles for sprint cars and a 10 x 18 in low profile net for smaller openings. If your opening falls between two listed sizes, call us with the measurements and we will work through the listings with you.
Does a net come with mounting hardware? On this page, nets and installation kits are separate listings: the nets are the net alone unless their listing says otherwise, and the five mounting and installation kits are listed as their own products, hardware included where the listing states it. Budget for both halves - the tab kit in our range exists specifically for the ALL10217 and ALL10218 latch kits, which tells you how matched this hardware is meant to be.
Ribbon or mesh? Both appear here at 18 x 22 to 18 x 24 in sizes. Ribbon nets are a grid of 1 in webbing straps; mesh nets are a mesh panel. The honest deciding line on this page is not the construction, it is the rating: the mesh pair is sold in an SFI 27.1 version and a Non-SFI version, and the ribbon range spans both too - pick the construction you prefer, then verify the rating line on that exact listing.
