Ford F-150 Tonneau Covers
Every cover on this page is in stock and made for the Ford F-150 — from 1973–96 classics to the current 2021–26 trucks — in 5.5 ft, 6.5 ft and 8 ft beds. That is 49 covers from BAK, Extang, TruXedo, Retrax and Westin, from $318.99 to $2,599.99, with free shipping on orders over $200. Each product title states its exact year range and bed length, so the fitment you read is the fitment you get.

First: measure your bed
Fitment is year + bed length, and bed length is where orders go wrong. Measure from the bulkhead (the wall directly behind the cab) to the inside edge of the tailgate. F-150 beds are 5.5 ft (short bed, standard on SuperCrew), 6.5 ft, or 8 ft (long bed). Brands label the 5.5 ft bed differently — you will see 5.5 ft, 5′6″ and 5′7″ on product titles for the same bed — so match your measurement, not the label style. If you are between sizes, call us at 213-549-4279 before ordering.
Hard cover or soft cover?
Choose soft if you want the lowest price, the lightest cover, and the fastest full-bed access — a roll-up disappears to the cab in seconds. The trade-off is security: vinyl can be cut, so a locked tailgate and keeping valuables out of sight do the real work. Choose hard if the truck sleeps outside, carries tools or gear worth stealing, or sees snow load — aluminum panels resist cutting and seal tighter, at a higher price and with folding panels that can cover part of the bed when fully open. Retractables split the difference: hard-cover security that slides away, at the top of the price range.
Questions F-150 owners ask us
Are tonneau covers waterproof? Water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Seals and panel joints keep out the vast majority of rain and car-wash spray, but a small amount can enter at the tailgate corners in a heavy downpour. If a load must stay bone-dry, pack it in a bin as well.
Will a cover improve my gas mileage? Possibly a little at highway speed, by smoothing airflow over the bed — but results vary by truck, speed and cover, and honest testing disagrees on the size. Buy a cover for protection and security; treat any fuel saving as a bonus.
Can I install one myself? Most covers in this range are designed for home installation with basic hand tools, and clamp-on designs (the BAKFlip MX4 above is clamp-on aluminum) typically go on in under an hour with no drilling. Check the individual product page for what is included with the specific cover.
Will it work with my bed liner? Spray-in liners: yes. Drop-in liners: usually, but the liner may need trimming where the cover rails clamp — check the product page or call us first.
Can I drive with the cover open? Yes, once it is secured in its open position — roll-ups and folds have straps or latches for exactly that. Never drive with a cover loose or half-latched.
Which bed length has the most choice? The 5.5 ft short bed — it is the most common F-150 configuration and the majority of what we stock, across every style and price band on this page.
